IT Support Contract Role
Job Type: Contract
Rate: £15-25p/hr
Start Date: ASAP
Location: Fully Remote Working
Key Responsibilities
- Handling incidents, service requests, and network changes in a live environment
- Configuring and troubleshooting Routers, Switches, and Firewalls
- Working knowledge of DNS/DHCP/IPAM
- Using ITSM tools such as ServiceNow, Jira Service Desk, Zendesk.
- Strong understanding of networking fundamentals (routing, switching, security)
- Working within ITIL-based processes
- Basic networking topologies and concepts
- Understanding of secure vs non-secure communication channels, ports & protocols
- Troubleshooting common user and infrastructure issues
- Maintain high-quality documentation including knowledge base articles and project artifacts.
- Participate in out-of-hours work, where necessary.
General
- Have studied or gained experience in IT, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
- 1-3 years of experience in a similar IT support or service desk role (ideally, but not necessary).
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- A positive, customer-oriented mindset and a professional approach when supporting all levels of staff.
- Willingness to learn and grow with new technologies.
Technical Skills
- Solid troubleshooting and problem-solving skills across hardware and software.
- Experience with Active Directory.
- Familiarity with Windows OS, Office 365, and common business applications.
- Understanding of networking fundamentals and Workstation connectivity troubleshooting.
- Experience with Mobile Device Management (MDM) tools and corporate mobile enrolment (iOS preferred).
- Exposure to PowerShell Scripting to automate routine tasks (desirable).
- Experience with remote monitoring and management (RMM) tools (eg TeamViewer, SolarWinds) is beneficial.
- Knowledge of videoconferencing tools such as Microsoft Teams and Webex.
